Celebrates Underground Railroad, Diversity and Literacy
ballet tech ohio performing arts association’s fourth Season Series promises to fulfill its mission to educate, entertain and amaze by providing diverse and innovative performances that have a phenomenal community impact. The 2004-2005 Season Series celebrates the people of the Underground Railroad, dance from many cultures, diversity and literacy. Audiences will experience the excellence of original choreography, fabulous professional dancers from all over the globe and ballet tech ohio performing arts association’s talented award winning pre-professional dancers. The 2004-2005 Season Series includes:
The Conductors MultiCultural Dance Fest September 17-18, 2004
Green Legs and Ham March 4-5, 2005
Gala of International Ballet Stars August 13, 2005
The Season opens at the Aronoff Center on September 17-18, 2004 with The Conductors MultiCultural Dance Fest, featuring The Conductors, an uplifting tale of separation and strength, tribulation and triumph, chronicles one family’s quest to obtain their freedom through the Underground Railroad. The Conductors, a collaboration with the Arts Consortium and National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and choreographed by Claudia Rudolf Barrett, features a multiracial cast, live Negro Spiritual music and original music by Ian Barrett. Multicultural guest dance companies, including African Drum and Dance, Latin Dance, Tribal Dance and Praise Dance will round out the show. As part of the Festival of Freedom and Enjoy the Arts/START 20 Days/20 Nights, this production will have a phenomenal community impact.
Green Legs and Ham will be a wacky weekend of entertainment for the entire family at the Aronoff on March 4-5, 2005. The audience will meet The Cat in the Hat, Yertle the Turtle, Bartholomew, and Horton while learning why there’s a Wocket in their Pocket, Mr. Brown can Moo, all the feet they can meet, ABC’s, and how to Hop on Pop. Green Legs and Ham features colorful and exciting sets and costumes, great choreography, danced to the rhythmic and melodic narration of the fantastic collection of Dr. Seuss’ works.
The Season Finale, the 4th Annual Gala of International Ballet Stars builds on a tradition of excellence with fabulous new shows each year. The best dancers from the best companies and the best choreography will be on display Saturday, August 13, 2005 for one superlative performance at the Procter & Gamble Hall of the Aronoff Center. Past shows have showcased great stars of American Ballet Theatre, BalletMet, Bolshoi Ballet, Boston Ballet, Complexions, Dance Theatre of Harlem, English National Ballet, Frankfort Ballet, Houston Ballet, Kirov Ballet, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, New York City Ballet Company, Royal Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet. “All left their hearts on the stage, and the audience responded with a standing ovation and applause that wouldn’t stop.” Cincinnati Enquirer.

| FOUNDED IN 1997 by Claudia Rudolf Barrett, the non-profit ballet tech ohio performing arts association presents a Season Series of major dance programs and about a dozen community performances each year to provide Greater Cincinnati with a new venue for high quality dance performances featuring pre-professional and professional dancers and a wide variety of artists, dance styles and music. The ballet tech ohio performing arts association mission is to educate, entertain and amaze by providing diverse and innovative performances that have a phenomenal community impact. We have touched over 15,000 audience members in the last two years with our Season Series and community performances to further educate the public.
